6) ERROR METER (very cool)
Power up in "TEST" mode
insert tape and push PLAY
push "REMOTE" and the ch1,2 V.U. meters become "Error Rate" meters for A and B heads. The most sensitive LED shows an Error Rate of 0.06 which is above acceptable. SO; If any ch 1 or 2 meter LEDs light the unit needs at least a good cleaning.
