The AW4416 unit comes with the CDR uninstalled and requires the end user to install the CDR. The CDR is housed in the right hand side of the unit itself and is covered by a removable face plate.To install the CDR the AW4416 needs to be placed upside down on a soft padding or a towel. The face plate is removed via two screws and reveals an empty slot for the CDR to be inserted into. Before sliding the CDR into the unit it is best to attach the power cable which is in a small plastic bag include with all the accessories. The power connector has a large end and a small end, the larger end will attach to the back of the CDR. Once that is done there will be a removable grid plate on the bottom of the AW4416 that needs to be removed in order to successfully install the CDR. Once removed the CDR can be slipped into the slot and there is a ribbon cable there to attach to the back of the CDR. The power connector that is attached to the CDR can be attached to the open connector inside the AW4416 and can only connect one way as to prevent any mishaps. Four screw holes will line up with the CDR so that it is securely fastened to the unit and does not bounce around freely. Once those are installed the removable grid plate can be put back on and the removable face plate can be reinstalled as well. The removable face plate will have a blank face plate that needs to be removed so the the door of the CDR can slide in and out. Once the face plate has been put back on the unit is ready for operation. To verify the CDR is installed correctly press the FILE button then look to see if in the DESTINATION field you see SCSI#3. IF so hold SHIFT and press F2 and the CDR drawer should open up and holding SHIFTand F1 will close the drawer.
