Q:
How do i set Bitheadz Black & Whites to use with Digital Performer?
Why do i see Unity DS-1, and not Black & Whites?
A:
Black&Whites uses the unity DS-1 engine and drivers. When you install Black&Whites with Digital Performer _already installed_ , FreeMIDI drivers will be placed in the appropriate places.
To enable MIDI in Digital Performer: - Launch FreeMIDI - from the File menu, choose FreeMIDI Preferences. - click "Input Port" under "Unity DS-1 Driver", then click OK. Unity DS-1 should appear in FreeMIDI. It will NOT be (or need to be) connected to a midi interface in the diagram. - Save FreeMIDI and Quit. - Launch Digital Performer. MIDI tracks should allow for the choice of "Unity DS-1, Input Ports". Select one of the input ports, and choose a patch from the "Default Patch" list. To enable Audio in Digital Performer. - QUIT all applications - Open the Black&Whites folder, and find the "Unity DS-1 MAS Plugin" (probably within a Utilities folder). - move the "Unity DS-1 MAS Plugin", from this location to the following location: System folder >>> Extensions >>> MOTU >>> Plugins. - once this driver is in the correct plugins folder, Unity will appear as a choice in Digital Performer's inputs for audio tracks and aux tracks.
