Q. How do I Select a Drum Kit?
1. Press the Kit button to make sure you're in Play Mode. 2. Turn the Value dial to select one of the 64 Drum Kits (the Kit button and the Kit number will flash). 3. Press the Kit button again to load the selected Drum Kit. Q. How do I Select a Different Drum in a Drum Kit? 1. Press the Drum button. 2. Press the Chase button so that it lights. 3. Play the note on your controller that you would like to change. The display will show the MIDI Note number and the name of the drum assigned to that that MIDI Note. 4. Press the Cursor button to move the cursor under the Drum Group name. There are 13 internal Drum Groups, see page 36 in the DMPRO’s Owner’s Manual for a list of the different Drum Groups. 5. Turn the Value dial to select the Drum Group you would like (example: AKK -Acoustic kicks, ASn- Acoustic snares). 6. Now press the Cursor button to move the cursor under the Drum number. 7. Turn the Value dial to select a different drum for that note. 8. Follow the Store Kit procedure to save any changes you have made. Q. How do I Save a Drum Kit I have made? 1. Press the Store button. 2. Use the Value dial to select the location where you would like to store your Kit. **Saving a Drum Kit will erase the Drum Kit that currently resides in that location, so make your selection carefully.** 3. Press the Store button again to execute the Save. Q. How do I Change the amount of Effect applied to a Drum? 1. Press the Mix button. 2. Press the Chase button so that it lights. 3. Play the note on your controller that you would like to change the amount of effect applied too. The display will show the note number and the name of the drum assigned to that that MIDI Note. 4. Press the Cursor button to move the cursor under the first letter in the top line of the display. 5. Turn the Value dial to select “FX Level”. 6. Press the Cursor button to move the cursor under the FX Level value. 7. Turn the Value dial to select the amount of effect you would like applied to the drum. 8. Repeat steps 3-7 for the other drums. 9. Follow the Store Kit procedure to save any changes you have made. Q. Sometimes when I hit one of my Drum Pads it Triggers Twice, how do I stop this? 1. This is called “Retriggering”. To eliminate this, press the Trig button. 2. Press the Chase button so that it lights. 3. Press the Cursor button to move the cursor under the first letter in the top line of the display. 4. Turn the Value dial to select “Retrigger”. 5. Press the Cursor button to move the cursor under the Retrigger value. 6. While playing the retriggering drum pad as fast as you can, turn the Value dial to set the Retrigger function to the maximum value that will capture all of your hits. 7. Repeat steps for other pads that might also be retriggering. Q. Sometimes when I hit one of my Drum Pads it Triggers a sound from another Pad, how do I stop this? 1. This is called “Crosstalk”. To eliminate this press the Trig button. 2. Press the Chase button so that it lights. 3. Press the Cursor button to move the cursor under the first letter in the top line of the display. 4. Turn the Value dial to select “Xtalk”. 5. Press the Cursor button to move the cursor under the Xtalk value. 6. Hit the desired trigger and watch for “RDY” to appear on the display. 7. Hit the desired trigger several times as hard as you would play your hardest hit. The DMPRO will listen to all other triggers to see if any are picking up the signals sent by the pad you hit. 8. While hitting the pad hard adjust the Xtalk value until no other triggers are false triggering. 9. Go to other triggers that might be false triggering and repeat steps 7-8. 10. When done LEAVE THE CROSSTALK PAGE! Do not stay on the page while playing your whole kit because you will de-sensitize your setup. Q. How do I Layer Drums in a Drum Kit? 1. Press the Mix button. 2. Press the Chase button so that it lights. 3. Press the Cursor button to move the cursor under the first letter in the top line of the display. 4. Turn the Value dial to select “Drum Link”. 5. Play the note on your controller that you would like to layer. The display will show the note number and the name of the drum assigned to that that MIDI Note. 6. Press the Cursor button to move the cursor under the Drum Link value. 7. Use the Value dial to select the sound you would like to layer with the drum assigned to that note. 8. Follow the Store kit procedures to save any changes you have made. Q. How do I Change the Output Assignment of a Drum? 1. Press the Mix button. 2. Press the Chase button so that it lights. 3. Press the Cursor button to move the cursor under the first letter in the top line of the display. 4. Turn the Value dial to select “Output”. 5. Play the note on your controller that you would like to change the output assignment for. The display will show the note number and the name of the drum assigned to that that MIDI Note. 6. Press the Cursor button to move the cursor under the output assignment value. 7. Use the Value dial to select the new output assignment. 8. Follow the Store kit procedures to save any changes you have made. Q. How do I Change the DMPRO’s Basic MIDI Receive Channel? 1. Press the MIDI button. 2. Press the Cursor button to move the cursor under the first letter in the top line of the display. 3. Turn the Value dial to select “Basic Channel”. 4. Press the Cursor button to move the cursor under the basic channel value. 5. Use the Value dial to select a new MIDI Channel. Q. How do I Restore the Factory Preset Drum Kits? 1. Make sure you have saved to an external MIDI device or PCMCIA card any changes you have made and would like to keep. This procedure will erase any edits you have made. 2. Press the Store button. 3. Press the Cursor button until you see “Load User from factory? (STR)” on the display. 4. Press the Store button again to execute the procedure.
