I use Logic Audio Macintosh with the internal AV Hardware, an Audiowerk or the Korg 1212 I/O. Often, this error occurs: "... Disk or CPU too slow..." What does this mean and how can I prevent this?

The computer has reached the limit of its processing power. There are various potential reasons:

* Too many audio tracks are set to be played back, and/or too many real time effects are assigned. You can save processing power by using fewer effects (using the busses as effect sends) or effects that need less processing power.
* The computer may have a fast CPU (300 MHz or more), but not enough RAM. When using real-time effects, it should have 128 MB of RAM or more.
* The hard disk for the audio files may be too slow or too fragmented. Keep in mind that it's best not to play back audio files from a ProTools hard disk via AV or Audiowerk, since a lot of processing power is needed for the conversion.
* Another cause of this error message could be the use of two Audiowerk8 cards which have not been synchronized by connecting the S/PDIF Out of the first card with the S/PDIF In of the second card. You'll find more about this in the Audiowerk8 manual.
