Q:
How set up an RPC1 with an Apple / Mac.
A:
In this example, the RPC1 was setup with Digital Performer 3 and the VS2480HD. Various applications will need different Asio drivers - in this case, Digital Performer 3 uses the ASIOv3 RPC1 driver. Consult your host application's documentation for information on which ASIO driver to use, and how to activate the RPC-1 within each application.
1. Install the RPC-1 drivers : Insert the Roland RPC-1 CD and double-click it to view its contents. Locate and open the "RPC-1 Driver" folder. (a) Find the "Roland RPC-1 Control Panel" and drag it to the Control Panels folder, located in the (OS9) System Folder. (b) Find the "Roland RPC-1 Driver" and drag it to the Extensions folder, located in the (OS9) System Folder. (c) Find the "ASIOv3 Roland RPC-1" and drag into the "ASIO Drivers" folder, located inside the Digital Performer folder. (d) Restart the computer (c) From the Apple Menu, choose Control Panels >>> Roland RPC-1 Control Panel to verify that it's working properly. Use the "HW settings" page to set the desired sample rate. Quit the control panel and save when prompted. (d) On the VS2480HD (or other RBus device), set Digital i/o Master Clock to "RBUS-1". (On the VS2480HD, press UTILITY, F3 PROJ on Page 1 to see the clock settings. If the VS2480 (or other RBus device) is working properly, you should see a message say "R-Bus Lock". (e) Launch Digital Performer and open or create a project. From the Basics Menu, choose "Configure Audio System" >>> "Configure Hardware driver". Change the Hardware driver from it's selected driver (Sound Manager, etc) to "ASIO". Digital Performer may alert you that it hasn't detected a compatible driver, ignore this message and proceed by clicking OK in the window. You should have new choices of the "RPC1" for inputs and outputs in audio tracks.
