Q:
Audio starts together (starting at any location) but drifts out of sync.
A:
- Audio Tape Recorder or Video Tape Recorder is not resolved (unresolved ATRs or VTRs are unstable!).- SMPTE source is bad (try another tape).- Pull Up or Pull Down is being used incorrectly (Video Slave Driver or Smpte Slave Driver).- Audio not recorded AND played back with Continuous Resync enabled (Sound Designer II only).- AppleTalk is Active (should be Inactive).- Audio Interface crystal has drifted out of specification.

Audio takes more than a few seconds to start playing when unmuting a track during playback (running Pro Tools on a SysAxe). Audio that is spotted to VITC (with a paused VTR) is off by 2 frames when using a SMPTE Slave Driver (SSD). Audio transferred digitally into the Mac plays back brighter in Sound Designer II than on DAT. (emphasis) Specifications for Audiomedia II (AMII). Auto Input monitoring theory with Pro Tools. |
