Q:
Why is Pro Tools slow to trigger when using a SMPTE Slave Driver (SSD)?
A:
The SSD doesn't trasmit sync (generate MTC) until the incoming SMPTE has stabilized enough for the SSD's servo to track and lock to within +/-5 audio samples. The more stable your SMPTE source, the quicker the lockup.
