Sound Designer II 2.82 won't install - the installer goes through the motions, but just returns to the original Install window (Mac might beep). After quiting the installer, the new software is not found on the hard drive.
A:
This can happen if the floppy disk is locked. Near the end of the installation, the installer attempts to authorize the hard drive. If the floppy disk is locked, the installer cannot decrement the authorization count on the floppy, and the installation is aborted. The Mac only beeps to indicate a problem, but no warning dialog is posted. Since the installation doesn't finish, the software never appears on the hard drive.
