Q:
What is the Janus JPEG Board?
A:
JPEG (Joint Photographic Experts Group) boards are designed and manufactured by Avid and used to compress and decompress the video signal from the ABVB (or Nuvista+ for NuBus systems) by a ribbon cable. There are several different types of JPEG cards. The JPEG III board captures only one video field and works with NuVista+ based systems. The JPEG IV, JPEG V and Advanced JPEG (also referred to as a Janus board) cards capture both video fields. The Advanced JPEG is available in PCI and Nubus versions and also supports real-time effects processing. The other JPEG cards are available in NuBus versions only.AudioVision PCI uses the Advanced JPEG card.
