Q:
What can be done when a fader appears to have gone bad (Fader is dead in all modes including "Vegas")? Is the fader really dead?
A:
Maybe no, Maybe yes, What can happen is the fader will "fall" out of the parameter "window" which is the acceptable range the fader can fall and still work. If it slips up or down beyond the parameter window the fader goes dead. If after a factory reset and running Vegas mode, the fader still does not respond. Go to utilities> Test> Fader > Recal to recalibrate it. If this does not bring the fader back on-line contact Digidesign Technical Support for a fader replacement.
