Q:
Pro Tools becomes very sluggish when the session contains lots of MIDI data.
 
A:
Pro Tools 5.0 and 5.0.1 were prone to this. Fixed in 5.1.

• File Conversion and Audio Suite processes on Pro Tools Windows (NT and 98) do not write a time stamp to the new file. Also potentially applies to AIFF files on the Mac.
• Consolidate Selection doesn't write muted MIDI regions as silence.
• Attempting to create a Fade Out or Fade In where 2 regions are butted together instead creates a Crossfade between the 2 regions.
• After previewing an AudioSuite plug-in, the beginning of the selection is cut off on subsequent plays.
• If Pro Tools LE (Win 98) is idle for several minutes or more, subsequent playback cuts off the beginning of the session.
