Q:
Error, "USD can't lock to current video reference. Please check cables and video reference source." in Pro Tools when trying to use Video Reference (black burst / house sync) coming from a video deck or a black burst generator. The Locked LED is flashing on the USD.
A:
This can be caused if the video cable that is being used is not 75 ohm. Be sure that video cables connected to the Video Ref or Video In connectors on the USD are 75 ohm. Having a different impedance cable can definitely cause the USD not to be able to lock to Video Reference.Also, if you are simply using Video Ref input, make sure that the 75 ohm terminator that came with the unit is connected to the other Video Ref BNC connector or ensure that another, terminated, video device is fed from the loop-through connector.
