Q:
Why is it recommended to disable "Auto Insert Notification" for all removable drives (CD-ROM, Zip, etc) with Pro Tools LE for Win98 and WinME?
A:
When you have Auto Insert Notification turned on, Windows polls all of your removable media drives (CD, DVD, Zip, Jaz, etc.) at regular intervals to see if anything's been inserted. On some systems this can cause too much PCI activity and cause problems for Pro Tools. It also takes CPU cycles, and can cause "held of interrupts" errors on some systems.
