Why is refer to source media grayed out when converting from Pro Tools to OMF in Digitranslator 1.0cs3?Is there a way to convert to OMF without having to make new copies of the media files?
 
A:
Typically if you are going to create an OMF file from a Pro Tools session, you are going to open that OMF on an Avid. Avid software is frame accurate, Pro Tools sessions are sample accurate. When "quantize edits to frame boundaries" is checked (and it always should be when going from Pro Tools to an AVID), DigiTranslator forces the creation of new audio files that are frame accurate so that an Avid can deal with them appropriately. DigiTranslator will pad the beginning and/or end of every file with a "handle" file so that they are frame accurate in length.
