Updating the Driver for Intel Hard Disk Controller:- Enabling DMA for IDE/ATA drives can help prevent DAE -9093, -9094, and -9129 error messages in Pro Tools.- This procedure usually gives the option for DMA for the hard disk drive. (If there is no option for DMA for IDE/ATA drives)- This procedure will update the driver provider for the Intel Hard Disk Controller from Intel to Microsoft.- To check who the provider is for the Hard Disk Controller: Right-click on My Computer > Properties > Device Manager > Hard Disk Controller > Find Intel or Standard dual PCI IDE controller. Double-click > Driver Tab > See who the Provider is.- If the Provider is Intel, changing to Microsoft will improve things by allowing the DMA option to appear; thus, preventing error messages.- Go to "Safe Mode" in Windows.- To get to "Safe Mode" restart computer and press * Ctrl or F8 before the Windows splash screen comes up. (* Computers vary as to how to enter "Safe Mode"). Enter "Safe Mode".- Start Menu > Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs.- Select and remove Intel ATA Storage Driver.- Put the Windows OS CD in CD drive. (Windows 98SE or ME)- Restart computer. The Add New Hardware Wizard should find a better driver from the Windows OS CD automatically. Hopefully Windows will update the driver using a Microsoft driver by choosing the best driver.- Restart.- Right-click on My Computer > Properties > Device Manager > Disk Drive > Double-click on Generic IDE drive (usually, type 47) > Settings Tab > Enable DMA.- Restart.- Launch Pro Tools and see if error messages go away.
