The Hard Drive(s) must be connected directly to the motherboard to be compatible with Pro Tools. The list below shows how a user might know if their Hard Drive(s) is connected to an accelerator card/slot instead of directly to the motherboard. 1) This error message can occur if user's hard drive is connected to an accelerator card or an accelerator slot on the motherboard.2) Another indication of this configuration is if there are no drives listed in the Disk drives category in the Device Manager. Right-click on My Computer > Properties > Device Manager > Disk drives > No Hard Drives listed, just the floppy disk drive. 3) Another tipoff can be if there is no option for DMA for the Hard Drive(s).Right-click on My Computer > Properties > Device Manager > Disk drives > Double-click on Hard Drive > Setting Tab > No Option to enable DMA. DMA must be enabled for Hard Drives to be compatible with Pro Tools.4) Promise or Highpoint shows up in the Device Manager as a SCSI controller. Right-click on My Computer > Properties > Device Manager > SCSI Controllers > Promise or Highpoint. Disable Promise or Highpoint devices.
