Q:
After installing the ATTO card in a new G4running MacOS 9.1 and connecting drivesformatted with FWB ver 2.x and above, the computer will not boot.

A:
FWB drivers seem incompatible with Mac OS 9.1. - To get the computer to boot, start the computer with the drives turned off. - Once the desktop is loaded, turn on the external hard drives and run the drive setup program from the Mac's utility folder. You will see the Hard drives as un-mounted. - Click mount, now they are mounted on the desktop. - Take the ATTO extension and put it in the active extensions folder.- Open the ATTO Express Pro Tools 2.3.2 app. - From the Buses and Drives pull down menu, select Buses and Drives. - Click the ( i ) button next to one of the FWB formatted Hard Drives. - Click the "inhibit driver loading" option and click "apply to all" , then save and quit the ATTO application. - Restart the computer. The ATTO drivers will now be used instead of the FWB driver's and you will not have to initialize his old drive's. This can be handy if you are doing a system upgrade and do not wish to reinitialize your older drives.
