Q:
Please locate 'filename.omf' when importing an embedded OMF exported from Avid Express Elite NT into Pro Tools 5.1.3 with Digitranslator 2.0.
A:
This dialog is posted because embedded audio files within the OMF contain too few samples. Because the files are embedded, Digitranslator asks to be pointed to the source OMF rather than the individual files. Most likely, this is a bug in the OMF export process in Avid Express Elite. Either the files actually do have too few samples or the OMF is just reporting the wrong number. To workaround, point Pro Tools/Digitranslator to the OMF each and every time it asks to locate. It will probably then post a "too few samples" error to which you can just okay. This must be done for each embedded audio file for which Digitranslator sees too few samples. The session should open properly with all files/regions in place. In most cases, users will also be able to work around the issue with the Digitranslator 1.0cs3. This previous version creates Pro Tools 5.0 sessions and is not concerned with the number of samples in a file.
