Q:
Upon launching Pro Tools, the following error message appears: "DAE was unable to communicate with the audio hardware, please save your session and relaunch the application -6004."
 
A:
In one case, having an Adaptec 29160 Card installed in the system caused this problem. Removing it and replacing it with a supported ATTO SCSI card resolved the problem.
