A Macintosh computer will not start up with Extensions off while holding down the shift key. Also, the Desktop will not be rebuilt when holding down Option-Command during start up.

These problems can be caused by a conflict between a computer keyboard and a dongle (such as a Waves ADB dongle).Try removing the dongle and see if the computer will perform these basic functions.
