Q:
How does Pro Tools time stamping work?
A:
When a region is created it is time stamped relative to the SMPTE start time specified for the session. This Original Time Stamp is permanently stored with the region and cannot be changed. If a region is ever moved, it can easily be placed at its original position from the Spot dialog. When the Original Time Stamp or a region is initially set, this same location is also used to define the region's User Time Stamp.Unlike the Original Time Stamp, the User Time Stamp can be redefined with the Time Stamp Selected command in the region's User Time Stamp.Unlike the Original Time Stamp, the User Time Stamp can be redefined with the Time Stamp Selected command in the Regions List popup menu.
