Q:
MOTU Issue: How to use Quicktime Musical Instruments in your FreeMIDI-compatible programs
A:
1) If you don't already have it, download the latest FreeMIDI from our Web site, motu.com Restart with extensions off, and run the installer. After you have installed, restart, making sure that these extensions are active: FreeMIDI Powerplug (if you have a PPC computer), FreeMIDI System Extension, FreeMIDI SoftSynth Extension, and any Quicktime Extensions.
2) OPen your hard drive, open the FreeMIDI Applications folder, and double-click on FreeMIDI Setup. If you have already created a configuration, go to the File menu, and select FreeMIDI Preferences. If you have not yet created a FreeMIDI Configuration, do so as described in your FreeStyle or Performer manual. In the FreeMIDI Preferences window, click on "Quicktime, Built-In". Click OK. Now in your FreeMIDI Configuration, you will see a device called "Quicktime, Built-In" Go to the File menu, and select Quit. Save your changes. Now, in Performer/Digital Performer/FreeStyle, you will be able to select Quicktime, Built In channels 1-16 as output destinations!
