Q:
MOTU Issue: Slaving Digital Performer to Pro Tools
A:
1.Deactivate the OMS extension.
2. Activate your OMS Emulator extension. (Restart if these are different settings) 3. Launch your FreeMIDI configuration and in the File menu under Preferences set “FreeMIDI applications only” and “Interapplication MIDI”. You can also check an “extra” if you would like. 4. Launch D.P. First...open a file...under the Basics menu select Receive Sync, “Sync to Port, Interapplication MIDI”, ”Type, MTC”...click OK...select Audio System, “MIDI Only”... Slave to External Sync. The play button should now flash when hit, it is waiting for MTC. 5. Launch Pro-Tools...open a file...in the Setups menu choose Show Session Setup (or the equivalent) set MTC to port to “Send MTC to D.P.” D.P. will only be an option if it was opened before Pro-Tools If you decide to use D.P. alone just uncheck “Slave to external” in the Basics menu. If you want to sync Pro-Tools from an external source without D.P. select “Slave to external sync” and in the preferences choose your perepheral to the correct port.
