Q:
MOTU Issue: DA-98 and the Digital Timepiece
A:
Unlike the DA-38 and the DA-88, the Digital Timepiece does not identify a DA-98 when connected with a Tascam PW-88S Sync cable. If you have a DA-98 and a Digital Timepiece you can achieve phase accurate synchronization. You can configure the DA-98 as a slave by sending it LTC(SMPTE) from the Digital Timepiece. If you would like the DA-98 to act as the Master you can route LTC or MTC along with Word Clock to the Digital Timepiece and set the Source on the Digital Timepiece to MTC/Word or LTC/Word, and the Digital Timepiece can now slave to the DA-98 for Phase Accurate Synchronization.
