Q:
MOTU Issue: I'm not seeing all my banks in Unisyn when I choose "Get Bank"
A:
I'm not seeing all my banks in Unisyn when I choose "Get Bank" or "Get All Banks".
Unisyn works with the edit buffer in your synth. It is important to understand the difference between ROM and RAM banks inside the synth. For most synths, the ROM banks are not automatically available for editing (hence the Read Only Memory designation, think of it like your non CD-R CD-ROM). The User Bank(s) within your synth however reside within the synth's RAM edit buffers and are immediately editable. For most Synths, get bank in Unisyn grabs only the User bank/s of the synth. To access Preset patches in ROM banks you'll need to move these patches to RAM location. This is simple to do within Unisyn: 1. Before doing any edits to a synths RAM bank, choose get bank in Unisyn and save it as a back up. 2. On the channel currently being used by Unisyn (either the "default play channel" in the MIDI menu/device setup window or the device's basic channel) dial up a ROM patch on the synth. 3. Choose "Get Patch" from the MIDI menu. 4. You can then save the patch to a Unisyn bank or library by click-dragging the patch. When you're ready to load the patch into the synth, assign the patch to a bank. This process will load the preset ROM patch into your User bank, effectively giving you two copies of the same patch in your synth, the original one which is preserved in ROM and your now editable one in your User Bank's edit buffer. The synth will not automatically save the changes you make to the particular patch in its edit buffer until you select "Send Patch" or "Send Bank" from the MIDI menu. Just if you were editing on the synth, you would need to use the "Store", "Save" or whatever button to actually apply the edited patch for later recall. Also be sure to check "Profile Help" under the apple menu for specific information regarding your synth and its specific architecture."
