Q:
I'm having trouble getting the FM-7 Midi Set-up to recognize my synths. I also can't get my MIDI keyboard to trigger FM-7 when running stand-alone either.
A:
The item which is selected as MIDI input has to be a device of your FreeMIDI studio setup (or OMS studio setup). If the list is empty there is no device generated which "represents" your keyboard(s). Create them and connect them virtually in the studio setup, then they can be selected as MIDI input in FM7 MIDI settings. You can also use FreeMIDI interapplication MIDI (only available when FreeMIDI is not running in OMS mode - in this case use "OMS inter application channel") To use FreeMIDI inter application MIDI make sure that this is turned on in FreeMIDI preferences. In FM 7 only set to MIDI system "FreeMIDI" - no MIDI input device or outputdevice has to be selected. (Otherwise you would receive duplicated MIDI events). In DP assign a MIDI track to FM7 which will appear as soon as FM7 is running. Make sure "MIDI through" is selected in DP and that the MIDI track is rec-enabled in order to receive MIDI with this track.
