Q:
2408mk3 PCI424 not working on Intel 875 chipsets. RATS message, not allowing computer to boot, not stable, no PCI cards found
A:
From Corrinto @ MOTU: NOT FOR PUBLIC KNOWLEDGE but some Intel 875 chipsets initialize the PCI cards before the PCI424 is ready, causing not booting up, no PCI cards or Audiowire devices found, disappearing cards, not able to load drivers, etc. Abit IC7 motherboard is one example.
MOTU has a solution: a modified PCI424 card to be replaced to the customer on a case-by-case basis currently. Sometimes replacing the card with another original card can help due to timing tolerances, but is not the full solution. No word on whether this affects all 875 chipsets or not. This problem seems to be similar to the RME card problem which has already been solved.
