Q:
After installing Avid Free DV 1.0.1 on a Mac OS X-based Pro Tools 6.x system, the following dialog is posted when launching Pro Tools:
"You have two stereo or two surround mixers in your Plug-Ins folder. Pro Tools can only run with one of these plug-ins in this folder. Please move one of them to the 'Plug-Ins (Unused)' folder"
A:
This problem with the Avid Free DV 1.0.1 Mac OS X installer is fixed in the Avid Free DV 1.0.3 Mac OS X installer.
This error can occur if the permissions on the DAE file are changed to Read Only. The Avid Free DV 1.0.1 Mac OS X installer inadvertantly did this. To correct this problem, do the following: 1. Locate the DAE file in /System/Library/CFM Support/ 2. Get Info on it (Command + I) 3. Switch the Ownership to your account (the one that says "Me" next to it) 4. Switch the Permissions to "Read and Write". The above instructions are only necessary if you have installed Avid Free DV version 1.0.1 for Mac OS X and encountered the error with Pro Tools. The installer for Avid Free DV version 1.0.3 for Mac OS X does not have this installation problem. Avid Free DV 1.0.3 is available from the following location: avid.com Also note that this was never an issue with the Windows XP version of Avid Free DV.
