Is it OK to pull the application Digital Performer out of the MOTU DP4 folder and place it on the desktop?
A:
No. Digital Performer gets installed into a folder created by the installer for a good reason. There are several drivers and elements that support DP located in other parts of the system. They "expect" DP4 to be in that folder. If DP4 is moved from it's original location, several problems may occur.
If you wish to have quick access to the application DP4, you can drag the application's icon the dock, which will make an alias in the dock for you. You can also single click the DP icon, and choose "make alias" from the File menu, then drag alias to your desktop.
