Q:
I'm having an issue with latency with the B-4. It works fine for a while while i'm recording in pro tools, but then if i use the volume pedal while playing, then the latency starts. also, when i change songs the latency is literally 45 seconds to a minute long. i'm sure i just have something set wrong. can you help?
A:
Probably there is a MIDI overload occuring on your Mac. This overload is caused by a false setting in the Pro Tools menu MIDI->MIDI input devices
You should not check the IAC bus as input interface there. If you have enabled the IAC, this will cause a MIDI loop as soon as you send MIDI on the IAC bus channel 2-16.
Further to avoid MIDI loops you can also make sure that in B4 MIDI settings window only the IAC bus is selected as input device and that there is no MIDI output selected and that MIDI through is not selected.

When I select Instruments in DP4 and choose Absynth 2, I get a spinning ball. I then am unable to use Dig Performer. I have to force quit. Setting up the Tascam FW-1884 to work as a HUI control surface in ProTools. When I select the B4 in the usual instrument channel it appears, but creates a terrible distorted droning sound. Visually the plug in is fine, and responds to midi input; sonically there is no reponse to midi. If I select a different audio instrument, or arrange track, the noise disappears, but as soon as I re-select it, it comes back. As it stands, the instrument is unusable - I'd like your advice as to how to solve this problem. What kind of memory will work in my FantomX?
