Q:
On Pro Tools 6.x for Windows XP PC, my CPU meter rises and spikes when Pro Tools is idle (not playing back) but when playing back it's fine. What is happening?
A:
There is a rare problem with some computers and the D-Verb plugin causing the CPU meter to rise when not playing back, and then spike. When playback is started, the CPU meter drops to normal levels. This bug has been identified by Digidesign on only a few cases, and the current solution is to remove the D-Verb plugin on all tracks(bypassing it will not do the trick) and discontinue the use of D-Verb.
