I've tried everything to get Cubase MIDI working, but cannot get it going...

I've tried everything to get Cubase MIDI working, but cannot get it going. MIDI input is showing in the transport but will not show up on my MIDI tracks. What can I do?

Check your preferences- go to File - Preferences - MIDI. Make sure:

Midi Thru Active is checkmarked

and under MIDI Filter:

Only Sysex is checkmarked in Record and Thru
All 16 channels are not darkened (indicating all data will be filtered if they are darkened)
