Q:
Is there a trick to installing the sound libraries for Reason? The Reason sound locator shows all the orkester sound folders, but theres never anything in them. Should these be stored on a different drive than the Reason OS?

A:
Reason is RAM based so there should be no concern as to where the sound banks are stored unless you are trying to conserve space on the system drive or just want to stay organized with a large library of samples.

Two sound library files, Factory Sounds.rfl and Orkester.rfl are installed when reason is installed. As you may notice, the two RFL (Refill) files are nothing more than a proprietary folder for use with Reason. If you are trying to load an instrument in Orkester, the only instruments that will show up in the browser are Orkester files. Nothing in the factory sound bank will be listed as this is not in the proper format.

If you find that no files are being listed after confirming that you are loading the correct instruments for the correct module, check the size of the two files and make sure they are not empty. If they report 0KB when checking the properties of the file, they may need to be reloaded. Keep in mind, however, the likelihood of this is slim if Reason is launching properly. Generally, if the files are missing or corrupt, Reason will not launch. Double check your instruments too. Most of the instruments allow you to load samples as well. If you are loading samples instead of a specific modules' instrument, the browser will seem to report nothing as well.
