Q:
Why can't I hear any bass from my JBL LSR 4312 subwoofer?
A:
For a Stereo setup: You must press the [BASS MANAGEMENT ON] button on the front of the sub to hear bass. Otherwise, the sub will not derive its bass signal from the stereo feed. The stereo feed must be routed to the sub and then to the Left and Right sattelite speakers. The speakers and sub must be connected using CAT5 cable.
For Surround applications: The subwoofer has a dedicated LFE (low-frequency effects) input. You may also choose to route L, R, Center, Left Surround, and Right Surround feeds to the subwoofer for bass management. To activate bass management you must press the [BASS MANAGEMENT ON] button on the front of the sub. Otherwise the sub will only play the LFE input source.
