Q:
FastTrack Ultra : Frequently Asked Questions.
A:
1. Question: Is there any technical limitation on why the new Fast Track Ultra cannot be used for M-Powered Pro Tools?
Answer: The current version of Pro Tools M-Powered (7.4) was too far along in its development to include support for Fast Track Ultra, which was still in development when Pro Tools M-Powered 7.4 was released. 2. Question: When can we expect m-powered pro tools support for the Fast Track Ultra? Answer: There is no specified date as of yet. 3. Question: Can any input be routed to any output including the headphone configurations? (The software is supposedly able to provide flexible routing) Answer: Yes. Each pair of outputs has a unique "mixer" tab which allows the user to route any of the hardware inputs and software returns to the associated outputs. The headphones mirror outputs 1&2 and 3&4 respectively and can therefore receive their own unique mix. 4. Question: Can all inputs be used at 96k or do they have to use a lower sample rate for all inputs to be used simultaneously? Answer: The Fast Track Ultra is capable of FULL 24-bit 96kHz operation on ALL channels simultaneously (this is one of the major bullet points in all the marketing material and the box). In bus power mode you can still run at 96k but are limited to the first two inputs and outputs and the S/PDIF since there is not enough power on the USB bus to operate all the hardware (regardless of sample rate). Of course it is NOT 96k compatible in USB 1.1 mode.
