Q:
My AlphaTrack is not working in Vista 64 (Or Win 7 64)
On My PC
A:
Special Instructions for installing the AlphaTrack Control Surface Plug-In for 32 -Bit SONAR when running 64-bit Windows operating systems.
If your computer is running a 64-Bit operating system, then the AlphaTrack installer will automatically place a 64-Bit version of the AlphaTrack.dll plug-in file into the Program Files\Cakewalk\Shared Surfaces folder to match. This ‘64-bit’ plug-in won’t be recognized by a 32-bit version of SONAR even though the file name is correct. Follow the appropriate steps below to manually install the 32-bit AlphaTrack.dll file and allow AlphaTrack to operate normally. The 32-bit AlphaTrack.dll file may be included with this download, or separately available at HYPERLINK "http://frontierdesign.com/Support/Downloads" http://frontierdesign.com/Support/Downloads. VISTA 64 Users: Run the AlphaTrack installer normally, selecting the option box to include the SONAR Control Surface Plug-In. After you complete the AlphaTrack driver installation there should be a file called 'AlphaTrack.dll' in the (Program Files\Cakewalk\Shared Surfaces) folder. Locate, and rename the file to 'AlphaTrack64.dll'. Then copy the 32-bit file (AlphaTrack.dll) into the same shared surfaces folder. You should now have 2 files in the Program Files\Cakewalk\Shared Surfaces folder called: AlphaTrack.dll AlphaTrack64.dll Register the files in Windows by: a. Click the 'START' button and open a Command Prompt window as Administrator by right clicking the Command Prompt icon (All Programs/Accessories), and choosing "Run as Administrator" (The Title bar of the resulting window will indicate that you are in fact running as an admin). b. In the command prompt window type: cd c:\windows\system32, and hit enter. The window should respond with the same message. c. Then type the following: regsvr32 "c:\program files\cakewalk\shared surfaces\AlphaTrack.dll", and hit enter again. If the command has worked properly you should get a popup message window stating that the DLL Register Server has succeeded. Click “OK”. d. Repeat step “c” above except typing: regsvr32 "c:\program files\cakewalk\shared surfaces\AlphaTrack64.dll", then enter. Another “…succeeded” message should appear. Click “OK”, close the Command Prompt window You should now be able to re-launch SONAR and configure the AlphaTrack as normal in either 32 or 64-bit versions of SONAR. XP 64 Users: Run the AlphaTrack installer normally, selecting the option box to include the SONAR Control Surface Plug-In. You should now have 2 files in the Program Files\Cakewalk\Shared Surfaces folder called: AlphaTrack.dll AlphaTrack64.dll Register each file with Windows by dragging them (one at a time) onto the C:/Windows/System32/regsvr32.exe application. Don’t worry this won’t actually move the file. After each file is dropped on to regsvr32.exe a pop-up message should confirm that it has “successfully registered” that file. You should now be able to re-launch SONAR and configure the AlphaTrack as normal in either 32 or 64-bit versions of SONAR.
