Instructions on setting up a HUI with ProTools
 
A:
A. Configure OMS.
1. Be sure that your MIDI interface has automatically been detected by OMS.
2. From the STUDIO menu in OMS, choose NEW DEVICE. (There is no Mackie / HUI listed in the Manufacturer/Model lists, so) Type "HUI" under name. Click "Controller" and channel #1 under "Recieve Channels" (leave all other items unchecked).
3. Be sure that the OMS setup diagram indicates that the HUI is connected to the same port as on the midi interface itself.
4. From the EDIT menu, choose "OMS Midi Setup". Place a check in the box next to "Run Midi in Background". Then click OK
5. From the EDIT menu, choose "Preferences". Of the 4 options with checkmarks next to them, UN-check all 4 items.
6 Save OMS and QUIT.

B. Setup ProTools (version 5.01 or higher recommended).
1. Launch ProTools, and either create a new session or open an existing session.
2. From the SETUPS menu, choose "Peripherals"
3. Click the "MIDI Controllers" tab in the Peripherals window.
4. in the first row select the following:
Type=HUI, Receive From=HUI, Send To=HUI, #ch's=8
5. Click OK.
6. From the MIDI menu, choose "Input Devices", and place an "X" in the box next to the device "HUI".
7. The HUI should respond to fader and controlls from ProTools and vice versa.
