Q. How do I initialize a Patch so I can create my own sounds from scratch?
1. Select the Patch you would like to initialize.
2. Hold down the SHIFT/EXIT button and press the INIT/UTIL button.
3. Press the INIT/UTIL button several times until you see the Initialize page.
4. Use the DOWN/UP Bank/Value buttons to select PATCH: TEMP
5. Now press the WRITE button.

Q. How do I initialize a Performance so I can create my own from scratch?
1. Select the Performance you would like to initialize.
2. Hold down the SHIFT/EXIT button and press the INIT/UTIL button.
3. Press the INIT/UTIL button several times until you see the Initialize page.
4. Use the DOWN/UP Bank/Value buttons to select PERFORM: TEMP
5. Now press the WRITE button. This procedure can also be used to initialize Patterns, Motions, and to reset all memory back to it’s factory preset settings.

Q. How do I store a Patch or Performance?
1. After you have edited or created your own Patch or Performance press the WRITE button.
2. Use the DOWN/UP Bank/Value buttons and the 1-8 buttons to select a destination to store your Patch or Performance to.
3. If you would like to name your new Patch or Performance press the PERFORM/PATCH NAME button.
4. Use the DOWN/UP Bank/Value buttons to select a letter and the PERFORM/PATCH NAME button to move the cursor. (See page 54 in the JP-8000 owner’s manual for more info on naming a Patch and page 28 for a Performance).
5. Press the WRITE button.The user Patch or Performance that was previously stored in that location will be overwritten by the new one.


Q. How do I select the MIDI Channels for a Performance?
1. Select the Performance you would like to set the MIDI Channels for.
2. Hold down the SHIFT/EXIT button and press the PFM PART button.
3. Press the PFM PART button several times until you see the MIDI page.
4. You will be able to select a MIDI Channel for the Upper and Lower Parts. Do this by pressing the UPPER or LOWER Panel Select buttons.
5. Once you have selected the Part you would like to set the MIDI Channel for, use the DOWN/UP Bank/Value buttons to select the MIDI Channel.
6. Press the SHIFT/EXIT button.
7. Now press the WRITE button to save your changes.

Q. How do I select a MIDI Channel to receive or to transmit Program Change messages?
1. Hold down the SHIFT/EXIT button and press the MIDI PRM button.
2. Press the MIDI PRM button several times until you see the Perform Ctrl CH page.
3. Use the DOWN/UP Bank/Value buttons to select the MIDI Channel on which you would like to receive and transmit Program Change messages.
4. Press the SHIFT/EXIT button.


Q. How do I select different Effects for my Patches or Performances?
1. Select the Performance or Patch you would like to change the Effect on.
2. Hold down the SHIFT/EXIT button and press the EFFECTS button.
3. Press EFFECTS button until you see ether the Chorus Type page or the Delay Type page.
4. Use the DOWN/UP Bank/Value buttons to select the type of Effect you would like to use .
5. Press the SHIFT/EXIT button.
6. Now press the WRITE button to save your changes.

Q. How do I assign a parameter to the Ribbon Controller?
1. Select the Patch or Performance you would like to use.
2. Press the RIBBON ASSIGN button.
3. If there is a parameter already assigned to the ribbon controller you can add to it or clear all parameters. To clear all parameters on the ribbon controller press the WRITE button.
4. Move the knobs or sliders to the desired setting you would like when the ribbon controller is pressed all the way to the right.
5. Press the RIBBON ASSIGN button again.
6. Return all knobs or sliders back to their original settings. If you made a mistake you can clear the data by following step 3. Now, repeat steps 2, 4, 5 and 6 to add to the data on the ribbon controller.

Q. How do I play a RPS?
1. Select the Patch or Performance you would like to use.
2. Locate the MODE button in the ARPEGGIATOR / RPS section.
3. Press the MODE button until you see all 3 LEDs light up.
4. Press the ON/OFF button in the ARPEGGIATOR / RPS section.
5. Press any key to play the different RPS's.
6. Turn the TEMPO knob to the desired setting.

Q. How do I select a different Arpeggiator Pattern for my Performance?
1. Select the performance you would like to change the Arpeggiator Pattern of.
2. Make sure the Arpeggiator is on.
3. Hold down the SHIFT/EXIT button and press the PFM COMMON button.
4. Press the PFM COMMON button several times until you see the Arp Beat Pattern page.
5. Use the DOWN/UP Bank/Value buttons to select the Arp Beat Pattern you would like to use.
6. Press the SHIFT/EXIT button.
7. Now press the WRITE button to save your changes.

Q. How do I assign a Parameter to the Velocity Controller?
1. Select the Patch or Performance you would like to use.
2. Press the VELOCITY ASSIGN button.
3. If there is a parameter already assigned to the velocity controller you can add to it, or clear all parameters. To clear all parameters on the velocity controller press the WRITE button.
4. Move the knobs or sliders to the desired setting you would like when the key is pressed at its hardest velocity.
5. Press the VELOCITY ASSIGN button again.
6. Return all knobs or sliders back to their original settings.
If you made a mistake you can clear the data by following step 3. Repeat steps 2, 4, 5 and 6 to add to the data on the velocity controller.

Q. How do I quickly set the Bend Range of the Pitch Lever?
1. Select the Patch or Performance you would like to use.
2. Press the BEND RANGE button.
3. If there is a range already assigned press the WRITE button to clear it.
4. Press a key to the left of C4. Each 1/2 step below C4 equals the downward Pitch Bend Range.
5. Press a key to the right of C4. Each 1/2 step above C4 equals the upward Pitch Bend Range.
6. Press the SHIFT/EXIT button.
7. Now press the WRITE button to save your changes.
