Q:
When I try to record online in Pro Tools, the program jumps out of record right when it locks. I can record off-line with not problem and I can playback online without a problem.
 
A:
In Pro Tools 2.5 and greater, there is an option under Preferences called "Record at Insertion Point" and "Record at Time Code Lock." Click on "Record at time code lock." This will force Pro Tools to lock to timecode before allocating the disk for recording. If you choose "insertion point" and do not allow enough pre-roll time, Pro Tools will drop out of record as soon as it locks to timecode.
