Q:
When I record video onto Pro Tools AVoption (XL) the result is only that video black is recorded (i.e. no video).
A:
Sometimes this happens right after upgrading to a new version of Pro Tools AVoption software.-Make sure that on the Video track in Pro Tools, the correct video input option is selected (Component, Composite, S-Video, SDI) to match the physical connections from the video source to AVoption. Even if the input selected in software is correct, toggle it to another one, and then back. In one case, though the input was set correctly, toggling to a different input and back to the proper input resolved the problem.-Make sure proper black burst is being fed to (1) the USD, (2) the video card (either ABVB or Meridian BOB), and (3) the video source (VTR, digital video deck, etc...). Try different black burst signal paths (cables, sources, etc...). In one case a simple "T" connector splitting the Black Burst signal was malfunctioning and causing video record errors.-You may have to trash and reinstall AVoption software, or at the very least make sure that the proper components are in the Video Engine folder. To check the correct files to trash and reinstall, or to check the proper components of the Video Engine folder, call Tech Support (or you may try looking at the Installer CD-ROM or Installer Log files to figure it out).
