Q:
When transferring audio via Lightpipe from an ADAT into Pro Tools with an ADAT Bridge, does the ADAT Bridge need to be the first interface?
A:
The ADAT Bridge needs to be first in order to set Pro Tools' sync mode to optical. However, it is possible to accomplish this without the ADAT Bridge being first. If the ADAT Bridge is not first, keep Pro Tools set to Internal Sync mode, and the ADAT(s) set to Digital or External Sync mode (the actual name varies from one ADAT model/manufacturer to another). In order for this to work you must also connect the ADAT Bridge's Lightpipe out to the ADATs Lightpipe in so that the ADAT has somewhere to derive its clock from. Sample rates on all devices should match.
