Q:
MIX Core, MIX Farm, MIX Plus (MIX Core and MIX Farm) or a d24 and MIX Farm combo is not recognized by Pro Tools 4.3 in an SBS 7-slot Expansion Chassis on a Beige G3.[Silk ROM]
A:
For a MIX Core or MIX Farm to work in a Beige G3 (the production is found on the back of the G3) the G3 must have the "Silk" ROM, and the Bit 3 must have the 3.3v Power Supply as well as the IBM353 chips on the Main, Host, and Controller boards. G3 models M6503LL/A, M7104LL/A, M7246LL/A, and M71006LL/A DO NOT need the SILK ROM upgrade. They already have the NEW Silk ROM installed by Apple. If you have a model other than the four listed above, open the G3 according to Apple's Hardware Installation Guide and find the ROM slot labeled ROM DIMM located in between the SGRAM ONLY slot and the 3 DRAM DIMM slots. If there is a ROM in that slot, check the label on the U1 chip. The OLD or INCOMPATIBLE Silk ROM is labeled "KMM264V515A03-10P, 9829 and you will need to upgrade it"
