Q:
How do I create the operating system disks, if my computer doesn't include a floppy disk drive?
A:
You can create the four operating system disks directly on the Pa1X.
1 Download the Mac version (.SIT) of the operating system's installation file from the Software section of our website (korgpa.com). The PC version (.ZIP) contains executables requiring a floppy disk drive, and cannot be used for this procedure. 2 Use Stuffit Expander (stuffit.com) to uncompress the installation file. Four "Disk [1-4]" folders will be created on the hard disk of your computer. 3 Connect the computer to the Pa1X via the USB port. On the Pa1X, go to the Disk > USB/CD page, then press Enable to enable the USB connection. (See the User's Manual for more details on the USB connection). 4 When the Pa1X's internal hard disk appears on the computer's screen, copy to it the four "Disk [1-4]" folders. When done, unmount the Pa1X's hard disk from your computer, then disconnect the USB port by pressing the Disk > USB/CD > Disable button. 5 Prepare four 1.44", MS-DOS-formatted, blank floppy disks. You can prepare them with the functions found on the Disk > Format page of the Pa1X 6 Copy the CONTENT of each "Disk [n]" folder into the root of each of the four floppy disks, starting from Disk 1 and ending with Disk 4. Label them with the corresponding progressive number. When finished, your operating system disks are ready.
