Q. How do I Initialize a Patch so I can create my own sounds from scratch?
1. Select the Patch you would like to initialize. 2. Press the [EDIT] button. 3. Press the [INIT / UTIL] (BANK 7) button several times until you see the Initialize page. 4. Use the [DEC] / [INC] buttons to select PATCH: TEMPORARY. 5. Use the [UPPER] / [LOWER] buttons in the PANEL SELECT section to select the part you would like to initialize. 6. Now press the [WRITE] button. Q. How do I Initialize a Performance so I can assemble my own from scratch? 1. Select the Performance you would like to initialize. 2. Press the [EDIT] button. 3. Press the [INIT / UTIL] (BANK 7) button several times until you see the Initialize page. 4. Use the [DEC] / [INC] buttons to select PERF: TEMPORARY. 5. Now press the [WRITE] button. This procedure can also be used to initialize Patterns, Motions, and to reset all memory back to its factory preset settings. Q. How do I Name a Patch or Performance? 1. After you have edited or created your own Patch or Performance and you would like to name it, press the [EDIT] button. 2. If you are naming a Performance, press the [PFM COMMON] (BANK 1) button. If you are naming a Patch, press the [PATCH] (BANK 4) button. If naming a patch you will also need to press the [LOWER] or [UPPER] PANEL SELECT buttons to select the part. 3. Use the [DOWN] / [UP] buttons in the GROUP section to move the cursor to the location where you wish to input a character. 4. Use the [DEC] / [INC] buttons to select the character. Repeat steps 3-4 to input a name. 5. Press the [EXIT] button. Q. How do I Store a Patch or Performance? 1. Press the [PERFORM / PATCH SELECT] button to specify whether you are saving a Performance or Patch. 2. If storing a Patch you will need to press the [LOWER] or [UPPER] PANEL SELECT buttons to select the part. 3. Press the [WRITE] button. 4. Use the [DOWN] / [UP] buttons in the GROUP section to select a save destination. 5. Press a Bank button 1-8 to select a bank. 6. Press a Number button 1-8 to select a number. 7. Press the [WRITE] button. Q. How do I select different Effects for my Patches or Performances? 1. Select the Performance or Patch you would like to change the Effect on. 2. Press the [EDIT] button. 3. Press the [PATCH] (BANK 4) button until you see the Multi Effects Type page, or if you would like to change the type of delay press the button until you see the Delay Type page. 4. Use the [DEC] / [INC] buttons to select the type of Effect you would like to use . 5. Press the [EXIT] button. 6. Now press the [WRITE] button to save your changes. Q. How do I select the MIDI Channels for a Performance? 1. Select the Performance you would like to edit. 2. Press the [EDIT] button. 3. Press the [PART] (BANK 3) button several times until you see the MIDI CH page. 4. You will be able to select a MIDI Channel for the Upper and Lower Parts. Do this by pressing the [UPPER] or [LOWER] PANEL SELECT buttons. 5. Once you have selected the Part that needs its MIDI Channel changed, use the [DEC] / [INC] buttons to select the MIDI Channel. 6. Press the [EXIT] button. 7. Now press the [WRITE] button to save your changes. Q. How do I Play an RPS? 1. Select the Patch or Performance you would like to use. 2. Locate the [MODE] button in the ARPEGGIATOR / RPS section. 3. Press the [MODE] button until you see the RPS LED light up. 4. Press the [ON] button in the ARPEGGIATOR / RPS section. 5. Press a key on your external controller to play the different RPS's. 6. Turn the TEMPO knob to the desired setting. Q. How do I select a different Arpeggiator Pattern for my Performance? 1. Select the Performance you would like to change. 2. Make sure the Arpeggiator is on. 3. Press the [EDIT] button. 4. Press the [PFM COMMON] (BANK 1) button several times until you see the Arp Beat Pattern page. 5. Use the [DEC] / [INC] buttons to select the Arp Beat Pattern you would like to use. 6. Press the [EXIT] button. 7. Now press the [WRITE] button to save your changes. Q. How do I assign a Parameter to the Velocity Controller? 1. Select the Patch or Performance you would like to use. 2. Press the [VELOCITY] button to turn Velocity on.. 3. Press the [VELOCITY ASSIGN] button. If there is a parameter already assigned to the Velocity Controller you can add to it or clear all parameters. To clear all parameters press the [WRITE] button. 4. Move the knobs or sliders to the desired settings you would like when the key is pressed at its hardest velocity. 5. Press the [VELOCITY ASSIGN] button again. 6. Return all knobs or sliders back to their original settings. If you made a mistake you can clear the data by following step 3. Repeat steps 2, 4, 5 and 6 to add to the data on the Velocity Controller. Q. How do I use the Voice Modulator? 1. Turn down the volume of the JP-8080. 2. Plug a Mic into the Front EXTERNAL INPUT jack. Now adjust the volume of the JP-8080 to taste. 3. Select Performance P2: 86. 4. Use the [VOCAL / UPPER] knob in the EXTERNAL INPUT section to adjust the volume of the Mic input. 5. While playing the JP-8080 speak into the microphone. 6. See pages 103 and 146 of the Owner’s Manual to discover various ways of using the Voice Modulator. |
