Q:
Pro Tools 5.1 freezes/crashes when assigning 9-pin Machine Control (using a Keyspan USA-28X USB Twin Serial Adapter emulating "Printer Port").
 
A:
There is an incompatibility between Pro Tools 5.1 and "Printer Emulation" mode on the Keyspan USA-28x software. This is easily solved by going to the Keyspan software and unchecking "Printer Emulation".After doing this, reboot the computer. You should now be able to launch Pro Tools and enable Machine Control via the Keyspan USA-28X USB Twin Serial Adapter.This information is also provided in the Pro Tools compatibility documentation, at digidesign.com
