Q:
I keep getting -9093 error, "OS held off interrupts for too long" message running Pro Tools LE 5.0.1 on my Windows 98SE computer.
A:
Most likely the DMA setting for the IDE drive(s) has not been enabled. Quit Pro Tools LE. Right click on my computer, go to properties, then to Device manager, hit the plus sign for disk drives, and double-click on the IDE drives, go to settings and check the box for DMA. Restart Windows If no DMA setting is possible, check to see Win98SE is installed. If so, then check in BIOS for UDMA being enabled and disable. The DMA setting should then be available. This error can also occur when drivers are loaded for third party items such as modems, sound cards, network cards, usb devices etc. If the problem persists, disable any extraneous drivers / background applications and restart + relaunch Pro Tools.... In rare cases, you may need to update the display adapter or the IDE controller.
