What functions does the BRC perform which the XT, XT20 or LX20 cannot?
A:
The BRC is a master locate controller whereas the XT incorporates some of the features of the BRC to control itself. For example, tape offsets entered from the front panel of an XT only affect that particular machine in the chain while tape offsets can be entered from the BRC to offset any machine in the system. The same holds true for track bouncing and track delays.
